Music is an essential part of the worship experience at Good Shepherd. Our community is well known for its modern musical taste and for having many talented music ministers sharing their faith through art. Music ministers are either volunteers or professionals, serving weekly as cantors, accompanists, sound techs, instrumentalists, or librarians. Several ensembles have consolidated over the years, and rotate providing a fresh and engaging sound for each mass. The congregation is also a key player in every celebration, and the love for liturgical music triggers a virtuous interaction between the musicians and the community. Musicians play and sing always having in mind the needs of the congregation, while the parishioners sing with joy from the pews and show appreciation at the end of every Mass. This constant interaction between musicians and the congregation makes the musical experience at Good Shepherd very unique and heartfelt.

The musical activities are led by Music Director Matthew Harris. He is assisted by the Music Committee, which meets monthly and includes representatives from the various ensembles and the parish.

Call for volunteers: several volunteer opportunities are available.

• performing volunteers: accompanists, cantors, singers, instrumentalists

• assisting volunteers: sound techs, librarians, music copyists, communicators, graphic designers

Time commitment is very flexible, according to everyone's availability, and can range from 1 hour a month to a few hours per week. 

Training: training for all the roles above are offered by appointment. A series of specific training sessions for sound techs are planned for Fall 2020. Additional information will be posted on these pages soon.
